You spend most of your time on the job so it is ideal to have someone to talk to when work becomes dull and hard at times. But for others, some say being friends with your co-workers can affect your emotions especially in dealing with them and on making decisions that involves your friend/co-worker. Should you maintain a close friendship with them or keep it to just work?
In this episode of Coffee Break Plugged In, DJ Nick, Ryan Armamento (Juss Rye), and Joseph Papa (Puff-a-J) of Sun Valley Crew talked about having your colleague as your friend. When they were asked about this band who revealed that they are not really friends with each other, Rye answered that this might be true and might not because he believes that 99.9% of successful bands today are really not friends. The hip-hop group admitted that they have also clashed during their second album because they were together most of the time. They shared that the reason they are still together because they did not treated music as work and it has never been an issue for them. Aside from bands, Rye compared the situation in the office. “While you’re working together, really, it’s hard,” he said. Rye added that personal stuff would really get in the way with work and sometimes even your decision would be affected.
Aside from their conversation, Sun Valley Crew performed their latest song entitled “This Time.” The group shared that the process of the song was long because they did not force the members to record. They have worked mostly on their own accord then Rye made some additional beats before finally releasing it.
