But with all these pageants, do we really learn things from these? Let’s find out what Aliwan Fiesta Digital Queen 2020 Jannarie Zarzoso has to say!
In this episode of Coffee Break, Jannarie Zarzoso is back to talk about the things pageants teach us. To start of the conversation, DJ Shai and Jannarie differentiate how pageants were before and how it is today. Before, when you hear the word pageant, it only connotes beauty but today, pageants have now substance. When the Cabadbaranon beauty was asked if pageants were the right avenue to talk about issues: “It’s the right avenue because you have the voice, you have the influence and the power to touch lives,” Jannarie said. When it comes to presenting the national costume, she preferred to have it the conventional way versus on costumes that presents social issues. “It’s not everyday that you get to showcase huge costumes but its everyday that you most definitely can share the social issues that you stand up for,” She said. DJ Shai agreed on what Jannarie said, “You don’t have to persecute the person if she doesn’t want to. It’s your stage, it’s your chance to highlight whatever you choose to highlight,” she said. To wrap up their conversation, Jannarie shared that pageantry taught her to be just her: “Pageantry taught me to be how I truly am because It’s when I shine at my best and radiate who I truly am,” Jannarie said. “This platform is so huge and valuable that you have ability to touch lives, influence, and help other people,” the beauty queen added.
