With the continuous threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) to human health and nation’s economical status, there were numerous calls since March 2020 to have a mass testing in the country, specifically in Metro Manila, to further the identify individuals who are positive, even if perceived asymptomatic.
In this regard, with the recent shift to general community quarantine (GCQ), numerous companies and employers require their workers to subject themselves first to COVID-19 testing before going back to work to make sure that they are COVID-free.
With greater efforts of some local government units (LGUs), both within the National Capital Region and in provinces, they managed to put up testing centers and even laboratories to respond to the needs of mass testing.
For an instance, the City of Manila has created several walk-in testing sites within the city. These efforts made the people got more interested and participate in COVID-19 testing.

To easily identify the hospitals, medical facilities and locations of those testing center, Google Maps got us covered!
“As we continue to navigate the uncertainties of the pandemic, we strive to find more ways on how our technology can play a role in the fight against COVID-19,” Google Philippines country director Bernadette Nacario said.
The navigation keeps updating their system adding lists of COVID-19 testing centers across the country. This will surely help the Filipinos to know where to go to get tested for the virus.
“Every day, Filipinos use Google Maps to find out more about the locations that matter to them and we hope that we can help by constantly updating our platforms with real-time locally relevant and credible information,” Nacario added.
To access the lists and identify locations, just type on search bar “COVID-19 testing centers” or any related terms and Google Maps will surely display those in your desktops and smartphones.
Aside from this recent development, Google Maps has played relevant roles in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. One of which is the feature where medical frontliners can navigate the routes and know travel time of shuttles provided by the government and their real-time location as well.
Stay safe and sound!
