The Manila International Airport (MIA) announced that there will be changes in the Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s terminal 2 starting this April 2023.

The announcement was made by MIAA Senior Assistant General Manager Bryan Co on state channel PTV, who also revealed that flights for Philippine Airlines, the country’s flag carrier, would be moved to Terminal 1 by June 16 to ensure that Terminal 2 will now only be for domestic flights.

Initially, Terminal 2 was supposed to accommodate domestic flights, the changes also will allow them to redeploy Immigration Officers in Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 and 3.

“This change will help shorten the lines in both terminal,” said Co.

It is yet to be seen if the changes would help the reputation of NAIA. Just recently immigration officer came under fire after lifestyle blogger/vlogger Cham Tanteras alleged on Tiktok that she was offloaded from her flight to Israel due to “irrelevant” and unnecessary questions from the Bureau of Immigration.

Even before all the ruckus, the Ninoy Aquino International Airport was considered as one of the most stressful airports in Asia and Oceania.

Here are the changes for airline assignments for each terminal

    Airlines From To Date Effective
Jetstar Asia Terminal 1 Terminal 3 April 16
Jetstar Japan Terminal 1 Terminal 3 April 16
    Scoot Terminal 1 Terminal 3 April 16
China Southern Terminal 1 Terminal 3 April 16
    Starlux Terminal 1 Terminal 3 April 16
Philippine Airlines (International) Terminal 2 Terminal 1 July 1
AirAsia Philippines (Domestic) Terminal 4 Terminal 2 July 1
