The Philippines is picking up more tourism awards this year, with new accolades from the Condé Nast Traveler (CNT) Readers’ Choice Awards 2022.

Boracay Island, famous for its white sand, was named the Top Island in Asia with 95.13 rating, while Palawan was placed eighth on the same list at 88.99.

Boracay outperformed other Indonesian, Thai, Malaysian, Vietnamese, Sri Lankan, and Japanese islands.

In addition, the Philippines ranked 30th out of the 48 Top Countries with a score of 86.66 in the World of CNT.

“We are extremely grateful for these international awards for the Philippines based on the opinion and experience of travelers from all over the world. As we usher in this new era of travel post-pandemic, our focus is to continue building confidence towards travel to the country by ensuring improvement in ease of access, prioritizing tourist safety and convenience, and encouraging sustainable tourism practices,” Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said.

“Recognitions such as these affirm our efforts to herald not only our country’s natural wonders but also our readiness to become the premier tourist destination in Asia. The Department is one with all our tourism stakeholders, from the local government units, private sector partners, and our fellowmen in celebrating these victories for the Philippines from Condé Nast Traveler. We are confident that the acclaim for our flagship destinations will help garner more international interest for our country. With President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.’s thrust to expand and equalize tourism opportunities nationwide, the development and promotion of our other emerging destinations will follow suit soon,” the tourism chief added.

Meanwhile, three local resorts also made it to CNT’s Top Resorts in Asia list with Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort coming in at 5th, El Nido Resort – Pangulasian Island at 8th, and Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa, Cebu at 20th.

Shangri-La Boracay and El Nido Resorts also belonged on CNT’s list of the World’s Top Resorts, faring at 27th and 40th, respectively.

Every year, market-leading travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler conducts a survey in which readers rate the world’s best countries, cities, hotels, airlines, spas, airports, and more.
