It seems that Filipinos have shown their loving nature after Manila came out as the ‘most loving capital city’ in the world in the international research conducted by Crossword Solver.

According to their website, Manila recorded the most “love you” tweets. As a matter of fact, 1,246 out of every 100,000 tweets containing different variations of the word “love you” came from the Philippines’ capital.

“Love is very much in the air in the Philippines: a poll once revealed that 93% of people in the country reported feeling love on a typical day — the highest proportion of any country in the world,” said Crossword Solver.

The result came out by gathering geotagged tweets posted in different countries and cities around the world.

“We then analyzed that sample to find tweets that contained variations of the phrase “love you,” for example, “love u” and “<3 you,” and variations of the heart emoji (e.g., 💓 and 💞) followed by “u” and “you,” they explained.

That explains how they got the proportion of loving tweets per 100,000 and found out that Manila is the most loving place in the world.

Guatemala City in Guatemala and Luanda in Angola followed Manila in the list of Top 20 ‘most loving major capital cities in the world.’

Meanwhile, capital cities that are often associated with the words “love” and “romance” such as Paris, France, were not included in the said list.

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna welcomed the news saying it is no longer a surprise since Manila residents are really such a loving people.

“Mapagmahal ang mga Manilenyo at gusto naming iparamdam ito sa anumang paraan, sa salita man o sa gawa,” said Lacuna.

“Ang pamahalaang lungsod ng Maynila ay patuloy ding ipinaparamdam ang pagmamahal sa mga Manilenyo sa pamamagitan ng serbisyong tapat at mapagkalinga. Para sa lahat ng Manilenyo, nawa’y araw-araw nating iparamdam ang pagmamahal sa kapwa, hindi lang ngayong buwan ng mga puso,” the lady mayor added on her social media where she used a heart emoji and used the hashtag, #MayniLove, in reference to the city government’s free Valentine’s offering at Mehan Garden.

“MayniLove” is a place where lovers, family and friends can enjoy live daily entertainment; booths of food and gift items, flowers, chocolates, stuffed toys, photo booths, Instagrammable spots, and daily giveaways.

There is also a “Puppy Love” area for dog lovers inside the venue, which is open until February 17 from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm every day and is a project of the bureau of permits led by Levi Facundo.

It truly is a happy Valentine’s Day in Manila!
