The islands of El Nido and Cebu are once again hailed among the best islands in the world by the London-based online travel guide magazine Big 7 Travels, July 31, Saturday.

El Nido town in Palawan was ranked second best while Cebu landed on the 25th spot this year.

The site has singled out Palawan’s one great treasure as “untouched, with white sandy beaches and tropical jungle. As soon as you step foot onto here you’ll instantly agree it’s one of the best islands in the world.”

It was also made popular by its ‘Secret Lagoon’ where tourists can swim through a hole in the limestone rocks just to enter the hidden bay with a crystal clear water and softest sand.

On the other hand, Cebu is cited for its “sugar-white beaches, clear emerald waters, hot springs and several jungle waterfalls.” It was also called as the tropical paradise in the Philippines for its main island and 167 others enriching the Visayas region.

Tourists are encouraged to have an unforgettable experience by going through the southern tip of the province, the Oslob town, where tourists can go swimming with whale sharks and try Tuba, a coconut nectar wine.

Joining El Nido in the Top 10 Best Islands of the World 2021 are:

    1  Lummi Island, Washington
    2  Palawan, Philippines
    3  Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu
    4  Sommaroy, Norway
    5  Korcula, Croatia
    6  Fraser Island, Australia
    7  Pemba Island, Zanzibar
    8  Barbados
    9  Flatey, Iceland
    10 Bora Bora, French Polynesia
Big 7 Travels follows the raking system with nine criteria namely editorial opinions and experiences; previous critic reviews; online customer reviews; location and accessibility; online presence; consistency; atmosphere and service; value for money and presentation.

Just two weeks ago, the same travel site hailed El Nido as fifth best beach in the world.

The Palawan local tourism office has welcomed the recent recognitions amid the coronavirus pandemic.

    Congratulations to Palawan and Cebu!
