OPM rock band Urbandub has addressed allegations that it promoted gambling following the circulation of an online video featuring frontman Gabby Alipe.

Posts from Alipe’s social media accounts have included tags related to a gambling platform dating back to April. A video has also recently circulated online showing Alipe encouraging viewers to follow a casino-related Facebook page, prompting discussions about the band’s involvement in gambling promotion.

In a statement posted on Urbandub’s official Facebook page, the band clarified that its participation was connected to ‘Hero For All,’ an advocacy associated with actor Alden Richards, rather than the promotion of gambling.

According to the band, they were approached by the agency handling the advocacy and invited to help recognize Filipinos for their acts of service. Urbandub said its involvement was intended to support the advocacy and that neither the band nor its individual members endorse or promote gambling.

The band also said its management is coordinating with the agency involved to address the circulating material and request its removal, stating that the advertisement did not accurately represent the purpose of their participation.

In an edit to its statement, Urbandub further claimed that the circulating video or advertisement had been uploaded and rebranded without the authorization of the parties involved. The band said the reference to the gambling platform was made only to explain the mechanics of the advocacy and should not be interpreted as an endorsement of gambling activities.

Urbandub reiterated that it does not endorse or promote casino or gambling-related campaigns.
