Travel budget alert! Diesel prices jump again this week
July 15, 2026

If you've been planning a road trip, a quick beach escape, or even just a drive back home, you might want to revisit your budget.
Starting July 14, fuel prices are on the rise once again. Diesel jumped by ₱4.00 per liter, while gasoline and kerosene also saw price increases. The latest hike comes as global oil prices continue to climb amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, putting more pressure on travel costs.

For motorists, it's pretty straightforward, a full tank now comes with a bigger bill. Whether you're driving to Tagaytay, La Union, Baguio, or anywhere else, expect to spend more on fuel. And it's not just private vehicles that could feel the impact. Higher fuel prices may eventually lead to increased fares for buses, vans, and other transport services as operators adjust to rising operating costs.
But here's the plot twist.

While fuel prices at the pump are going up, air travelers could get a bit of good news. The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) announced that airline fuel surcharges will be lowered to Level 8 starting July 16, the lowest level seen in months. That means some domestic and international flights may become slightly more affordable, depending on the airline and destination.

So before automatically choosing a road trip, it might be worth comparing flight prices too. With lower airline fuel surcharges and more seat sales happening this season, flying could end up being the more budget-friendly option.

The takeaway? Travel plans don't have to be cancelled, but they do need a little more planning. Whether you're hitting the road or catching a flight, checking prices before booking might just save you more than you think.
