Filipino singer Sophia Laforteza is set to reunite with her KATSEYE groupmates in January 2027 following a months-long hiatus to focus on her mental health and overall well-being.
HYBE and Geffen Records confirmed the expected return of the group’s leader in a joint announcement posted on Weverse on Thursday, October 8. According to the labels, Laforteza will resume group activities in the first week of the new year.
“Sophia has been prioritizing her health and well-being with our full support and resources,” the agencies said, while expressing their anticipation for her return as KATSEYE enters its next chapter.
However, Laforteza will remain on hiatus for the rest of 2026, missing the remaining North American dates of the group’s ‘The Wildworld Tour’ and its end-of-year promotional activities.
The singer also addressed fans through her Instagram Stories, thanking them for their patience and encouragement throughout her recovery. She shared that she has been receiving the care she needs, learning ways to better support herself, and making her well-being a priority.
Although missing the remainder of the tour has been difficult, Laforteza said she intends to use the time to continue training and caring for herself. She hopes to return feeling “happier, healthier, stronger, more grounded” and ready to perform alongside her “sisters” again.
Laforteza announced her temporary hiatus on August 7, emphasizing the importance of putting her health first.
Meanwhile, fellow member Manon Bannerman has also been on hiatus since February. The group, formed through HYBE and Geffen Records’ reality competition ‘The Debut: Dream Academy,’ features Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Manon Bannerman, Yoonchae Jeung, and Laforteza.
With her return timeline now confirmed, fans are looking forward to seeing the Filipina singer back onstage with KATSEYE in 2027.
