Some love stories are just badly timed
Some love stories are just badly timed
September 1, 2026

We grow up believing that when two people genuinely like each other, everything else will eventually fall into place. But real life is rarely that simple. Sometimes, the person feels right, the connection is undeniable, and yet the timing simply does not cooperate.

There are some people from our past who never really become strangers. Years may pass, lives may change, and both of you may move forward, but one unexpected encounter can bring back a version of yourself you thought you had already left behind.

A relationship can be affected by things that have little to do with love. Career goals, family responsibilities, personal growth, and even financial stability can determine whether someone is truly ready to build a life with another person. You may meet someone who feels like ‘The One That Got Away,’ only to realize later that you were both in completely different chapters.

This is why being financially stable can matter before committing to a serious relationship. It does not mean you need to be rich before falling in love. Rather, financial stability can provide a sense of security and independence, especially when a relationship begins moving toward shared responsibilities, living arrangements, marriage, or a family.

That was the feeling behind one of the most talked-about moments from Yeng Constantino’s ‘Byaheng Bente’ concert, when she serenaded Ryan Bang onstage. The moment quickly brought renewed attention to their past, when Ryan had tried to court Yeng. Yeng had previously shared that Ryan eventually stopped pursuing her after believing she was not interested, with their experience even becoming part of the inspiration behind her song ‘B.A.B.A.Y.’

Public figures like Yeng Constantino and Ryan Bang have occasionally reminded audiences that relationships do not always follow a straightforward timeline. What may look like a missed opportunity from the outside could simply be two people navigating life at different speeds.

Perhaps the harder truth is that not every meaningful connection is meant to become a relationship. Some people enter our lives to teach us what we want, what we need, or when we are finally ready.

Maybe that is what makes a TOTGA so complicated. Sometimes, you do not lose the right person. You simply meet them at the wrong time and by the time the timing is right, both of you have already become different people. Sometimes, letting go is not admitting that the person was wrong. It is accepting that the timing was.
