In a recent competition, Mabango, a variety of Dinorado rice, impressed judges from around the globe. &ldquo;Out of 30 entries from rice powerhouses like Thailand, India, and Australia, Mabango outshone 27, proving it has both the substance and the scent to stand among the planet&rsquo;s finest grains,&rdquo; the Department of Agriculture (DA) said in a statement on November 12.
Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel also praised the achievement, saying, &ldquo;This is proof that our local farmers and scientists can hold their own against the world&rsquo;s best.&rdquo;
The award highlights the skill and dedication of Filipino farmers and researchers who continue to produce world-class rice varieties. With this recognition, Dinorado rice is not just a staple in Filipino kitchens but also a contender on the global stage.
