Okay, reminder for everyone flying: maybe leave the bomb jokes at the group chat.

A 32-year-old passenger heading to Manila was arrested after allegedly making a bomb joke during a flight at Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport, formerly known as Tacloban Airport, on Friday.

The situation reportedly started when a flight attendant asked the passenger if there was a power bank inside his hand-carry bag. Instead of giving the usual “yes” or “no,” he allegedly replied, “Wala naman, pero bomba mayroon, joke.”

The comment was reportedly made loudly, which understandably alarmed some passengers.

The cabin crew quickly informed the pilot, who then contacted authorities. Everyone on board had to get off the aircraft while security personnel carried out inspections and screened the passengers.

Specialized security teams, including explosive response and K-9 units, were also deployed to check the aircraft and surrounding areas.

The good news? No explosive or incendiary materials were found. The airport was eventually cleared and normal operations resumed.

Still, what may have been intended as a joke turned into a serious security situation. One comment was enough to get everyone off the plane, bring in security teams, and potentially disrupt the travel plans of an entire flight.

So, friendly travel reminder: airport security is definitely not the place to test your stand-up comedy skills.

Keep the jokes harmless, follow security rules, and save the questionable punchlines for the group chat!
