Heads up, commuters! A nationwide transport strike is set for September 29–30, and this could mean another challenge for those who take public transportation every day.

PISTON announced the two-day transport strike as fuel prices continue to rise. Around 70,000 jeepney drivers and operators are expected to join the strike, calling for action over the rising cost of fuel.

Several areas in Metro Manila may be affected, including Cubao, Marikina, Antipolo, Commonwealth, España, Monumento, Novaliches, Baclaran, Pasig, Taguig, Sucat, and Alabang.

The announcement comes after three fuel price increases this September, which pushed diesel prices up by a total of ₱18.31 per liter.

For drivers, higher fuel prices mean bigger daily expenses. But commuters could also feel the impact, especially if fewer jeepneys and other public vehicles are available on the road during the strike.

If you're heading to work, school, or anywhere else on September 29 and 30, it might be a good idea to check your route ahead of time and prepare a backup ride.

For now, commuters, better charge those phones, save those transport apps, and maybe leave home a little earlier.
