Travelers planning to use the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) should prepare for a toll increase starting June 4. This marks the second phase of a planned adjustment, following the Transport Regulatory Board's (TRB) approval. NLEX Corp. has met all the necessary requirements, including public notices and a surety bond, to implement this new rate. The last toll hike was in June 2023, but only partial adjustments were applied at that time.
These changes are part of a broader trend in toll adjustments across major expressways in the region. The TRB has also given the green light for increases on the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway earlier this year. Meanwhile, similar proposals for the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) are still under review. These adjustments aim to keep pace with infrastructure improvements and maintenance needs.

However, the TRB is mindful of the broader economic context. Executive Director Alvin Carullo emphasized that any further increases will be carefully considered in light of the current inflationary pressures. This means that while the need for toll adjustments is recognized, the timing and extent of future hikes might be adjusted to mitigate economic impact on daily commuters and travelers.
