The Michelin Guide is returning to the Philippines for the second year to announce its 2027 restaurant selection this October.

Michelin inspectors recently visited restaurants across Metro Manila, nearby provinces, and Cebu to find establishments that may receive a Michelin Star, Bib Gourmand, or Michelin Selected recognition.

According to the guide, this year’s visits showed a growing and changing Philippine food scene. New restaurants are making their mark, while established chefs are exploring new ideas and ways to present Filipino cuisine.

Metro Manila stood out for its chef-led restaurants, tasting menus, and modern dining concepts. Meanwhile, Cebu continued to showcase its local flavors through lechon, seafood, grilled dishes, and home-style cooking.

Inspectors also explored restaurants that highlight the country’s regional food traditions. Some continue to serve recipes passed down through generations, while others give traditional Filipino dishes a more modern approach.

The guide also noted the growing use of local ingredients and flavors, including calamansi, kamias, and tamarind. Local spirits, tropical fruits, coffee, spices, and herbs were also featured in the country’s food and drink offerings.

Michelin said these findings reflect a Philippine food scene that is becoming more confident in showcasing its roots while also exploring new directions.

The 2027 Michelin Guide Philippines restaurant selection will be announced on October 29 at the Manila Marriott Hotel in Newport World Resorts.
