Filipino theater star Lea Salonga has confirmed that she and her husband, Robert Chien, are no longer living together. The Tony-award-winning singer and actress shared the news during a media interview on Wednesday in Parañaque City.

Lea told reporters, “It’s not a secret. We have been separated for a while.” She added, “And now he’s happy, and I’m happy that he’s happy.”

The couple has stayed on good terms and continues to work together to support their only child, Nic Chien. Lea said both she and Robert are very busy, but they make sure their son is cared for—with help from Robert and his partner.

Lea and Robert were married in 2007 and have always kept much of their personal life private. While she spoke openly about their separation, Lea did not go into details about the reasons or timing of the split.

Lea is currently performing in Les Misérables: World Tour Spectacular in the Philippines.
