In the latest episode of Hangover on January 8, Julie Anne San Jose was asked about being frequently placed in media “battles” or comparisons with other vocal powerhouses like Sarah Geronimo and Morissette Amon.

Julie shared that she has nothing but respect for Sarah, Morissette, and other artists. She said she even dreams of collaborating with them someday, which is why constant comparisons feel confusing to her. “Parang, bakit?” she said, questioning the need to compare artists.

She also pointed out that comparison culture can be toxic. According to Julie, she dislikes how people look for conflict where there is none. For her, comparing artists only creates unnecessary issues and harms the sense of community among OPM performers.

Julie also recalled her first interaction with Sarah Geronimo. She shared that she was part of a church choir when Sarah greeted her with a simple “Hi, Julie!” Julie said she felt very kilig at that moment.

She ended by making it clear that she has no beef with anyone and that creating conflict is the last thing she wants.
