Janessa Geronimo has announced that she will be leaving Filipino indie/alternative rock band Over October after 12 years as its drummer.

The band shared the news through an official statement, where Geronimo looked back on how her journey with Over October began. She said she immediately accepted the invitation from singer Josh Buizon and lead guitarist Joshua Lua when they asked her to join the band.

According to Geronimo, making music with close friends had always been her dream, and being part of Over October allowed that dream to come true. She described the past 12 years as one of the greatest blessings of her life.

However, she also shared that her dreams have changed, leading her to make the difficult decision to leave the band.

In her message, Geronimo thanked her fellow band members and the band's supporters, known as the Octobears. She said they had shared many important moments together and had watched each other grow over the years.

She admitted that leaving the band and its community was one of the hardest decisions she has ever made, but said she is at peace with her choice.

Geronimo also reflected on how joining Over October at 19 years old helped shape her both as a musician and as a person. She said she is grateful for everything they achieved together, including the memories, challenges, and friendships they built throughout the years.

Although she has announced her departure, Geronimo will remain with Over October until October. She is also expected to perform with the band at a special event on October 4, 2026, at the New Frontier Theater before officially saying goodbye.
