But let’s be honest, here in the Philippines, where typhoons are a regular (and deadly) part of life, calling it “cuddle weather” during a storm is downright insensitive. When a typhoon strikes, it’s not just a drizzle or sweater weather. Roofs are being blown off, families are being evacuated, and people are losing their homes, power, and even lives. While some are lighting scented candles and posting aesthetically pleasing rain content with that clichéd lo-fi beat, others are scrambling to find safety.

Now, this isn’t about canceling anyone who enjoys a rainy day. Everyone’s entitled to a little comfort. However, this is about being mindful. There's a time and place for everything, and during a typhoon, maybe it's better to check on your loved ones in affected areas than post a cozy selfie with your partner. Maybe it’s time to share hotline numbers, donate to relief drives, or at the very least, pause and offer prayers for those who are weathering more than just the cold.

Let’s remember that while the rainy day might be alright for you, it's another long night of fear, uncertainty, and loss for others.
