All six inhabited continents were represented in the halftime performance, with musical artists BTS, Justin Bieber, Madonna, Shakira, Coldplay, Burna Boy, and Emmanuel Kelly performing before around 80,000 live spectators and billions of viewers watching the event remotely.

The 11-minute halftime show ended with a colorful, heartwarming performance by local elementary school students from the PS22 Chorus, alongside the artists and the Muppets and Sesame Street characters.

The show served as a platform to promote the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, FIFA’s charity arm, whose goal is to raise $100 million to expand children’s access to education and soccer worldwide.

Meanwhile, Spain secured its second FIFA World Cup title after winning against the Lionel Messi-led Argentine soccer team, 1-0, in the final.
