Starting January 20, 2026, motorists using the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) must pay higher toll fees as the final tranche of a periodic rate adjustment originally due in 2023 takes effect. Authorized by the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), these increases are intended to support the expressway&rsquo;s continued maintenance, safety, and service quality.
In the "open system," which covers the stretch from Metro Manila to Marilao, tolls have increased by:
₱6 for Class 1 vehicles
₱12 for Class 2
₱16 for Class 3.
For long-distance travelers driving between Metro Manila and Mabalacat, the total hike reaches
₱24 for Class 1
₱60 for Class 2
₱72 for Class 3.
Additionally, the "closed system" now reflects a rate increase of ₱0.26 per kilometer.
The TRB previously deferred these adjustments, implementing them in two stages to mitigate the financial impact on the public. These updated rates ensure NLEX remains a safe and efficient gateway for Northern Luzon.
