The much-anticipated LRT-1 Cavite South Extension is set to open in the fourth quarter of this year, promising a transformative journey for commuters. After years of delays, the project is finally nearing completion. The Department of Transportation, Light Rail Transit Authority, and Light Rail Manila Corporation recently conducted an inspection at the Dr. Arcadio Santos Station in Para&ntilde;aque City.

The LRT-1 South Extension is equipped with the latest technology and amenities to ensure a comfortable and accessible travel experience for all passengers. Each station features elevators and escalators, detectable surface flooring for the visually impaired, real-time passenger information systems, and breastfeeding rooms. Additionally, the Dr. A. Santos Station is poised to become a major transport hub with dedicated loading bays for various types of vehicles, including those catering to persons with disabilities.

One of the most remarkable benefits of the new extension is the significant reduction in travel time. The 32.4km line will cut the journey from Baclaran to Bacoor in Cavite from an average of 70 minutes to just 25 minutes. This improvement is expected to increase the LRT-1's daily capacity from 500,000 to 800,000 passengers, making commuting more efficient and accessible for thousands.

The extension includes five new stations, each strategically placed to serve key areas and reduce travel time between Quezon City and Para&ntilde;aque to just 25 minutes:
Redemptorist Station
Located in Aseana City, Para&ntilde;aque, this station is close to commercial and residential developments, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and SM Mall of Asia.
Manila International Airport (MIA) Station
The closest station to the airport, also near Ayala Mall Manila Bay and City of Dreams Manila.
Asiaworld Station
Directly connected to the Para&ntilde;aque International Terminal Exchange (PITX), serving travelers heading to southern provinces.
Ninoy Aquino Station
Situated along Ninoy Aquino Avenue, near educational institutions and logistics centers.
Dr. Santos Station
Located beside SM City Sucat, this station will feature an intermodal facility for various transport modes.
