Eraserheads’ ‘Fruitcake’ gets a vinyl revival for Its 30th anniversary

Christmas is coming early for Eraserheads fans as pre-orders for the 30th Anniversary vinyl pressing of the band’s beloved Christmas album, ‘Fruitcake,’ are officially open.

Offshore Music, the label behind the release, recently announced the upcoming vinyl pressing on its social media pages, giving fans and collectors the chance to own a physical edition of the beloved holiday-themed record.

Originally released on December 6, 1996, ‘Fruitcake’ marked the Eraserheads’ fourth studio album and remains one of the most distinctive releases in their catalog. Unlike the band’s more familiar OPM staples, the album leaned fully into a Christmas concept, telling the story of a young girl’s journey through the fictional Fruitcake Heights.

Nearly three decades later, the holiday-themed record is getting another physical release, giving longtime collectors and new-generation fans another chance to add the album to their vinyl shelves.

The upcoming pressing also arrives shortly after another major Eraserheads vinyl release. The band’s debut album, ‘Ultraelectromagneticpop!,’ recently returned in a 25th Anniversary white vinyl edition, with pre-orders announced earlier this year.

With ‘Ultraelectromagneticpop!’ and now ‘Fruitcake’ receiving renewed attention on vinyl, the Eraserheads’ catalog continues to find its way into the collections of OPM fans across generations.
