The Digital Marketing Association of the Philippines (DMAP) highlighted the importance of ethical and responsible personalization during the 10th Digital Congress (DigiCon), held on October 16&ndash;17 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom, Pasay City.
With the theme &ldquo;The Age of &lsquo;i&rsquo;: The Power of Personalization,&rdquo; the country&rsquo;s biggest digital marketing event gathered over 2,000 attendees from marketing, advertising, business, media, and academia. The event focused on innovation, AI, data science, brand building, and business transformation, offering insights on how to use personalization responsibly.
Global tech expert Dex Hunter-Torricke, formerly from Facebook and SpaceX, discussed the rise of AI and hyper-personalization, saying it could create experiences tailored to every customer&rsquo;s needs. He also urged marketers to think long-term and act responsibly as technology evolves.
DigiCon Chair Alan Fontanilla emphasized that while personalization is now easier than ever, brands must prioritize trust, consent, and ethics.
&ldquo;Just because we can personalize doesn&rsquo;t mean we always should,&rdquo; Fontanilla said. &ldquo;People don&rsquo;t just want relevance &mdash; they want respect.&rdquo;
DMAP President Miko David added that the future of marketing relies on AI guided by ethical practices, noting that DigiCon 2025 equips marketers with the tools and mindset to use technology responsibly.
DigiCon 2025 also partnered with Certified Digital Marketer (CDM) to offer program certifications, helping marketers stay future-ready amid changing consumer behavior and technology.
