Carmelle Collado is set to make history as the first-ever representative of the Philippines in the Eurovision Song Contest Asia after winning the country’s first Philippine Selection Night.
The singer, who is also known as a Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0 alum and the grand champion of Tawag ng Tanghalan: The School Showdown, won with her song 'Sobra-Sobra.' She bested nine other artists and groups to earn the chance to represent the Philippines on the international stage.
'Sobra-Sobra' is an upbeat and empowering song written by Nica del Rosario and Mat Olavides. The song celebrates Filipino women and encourages them to embrace their strength, confidence, and individuality instead of worrying about what other people think.
Her win was decided through a combination of professional jury votes, votes from Filipino viewers, and votes from international viewers. The jury and Philippine public each accounted for 40% of the final score, while the remaining 20% came from the Rest of the World vote.
Carmelle has already made a name for herself through singing competitions. She finished as the first runner-up in The Voice Kids Philippines in 2019 before winning Tawag ng Tanghalan: The School Showdown in 2025. She later joined Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0.
Now, Carmelle will bring 'Sobra-Sobra' to Bangkok, Thailand, where the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia will take place on November 14, 2026. She will represent the Philippines as the country makes its debut in the regional edition of the international music competition.
