South Korean boy group and global superstars BTS have announced that they will not submit their music for consideration at the upcoming Grammy Awards, which will take place in February next year.

All seven members shared the news through their personal social media accounts, surprising many fans since the group has received multiple Grammy nominations in the past.

In a joint statement, BTS explained their decision.

"We've decided not to submit our work for this year's Grammy Awards. We hope music will be recognized and loved for what it is, rather than being divided by region or language."

Their announcement came after the Recording Academy introduced new Grammy categories, including Best Asian Pop Music Performance.

According to the Recording Academy, the category recognizes outstanding Asian pop music performances from markets such as K-pop, J-pop, and C-pop, featuring meaningful use of one or more Asian languages. The award will be presented to the performing artist or artists.

Despite the new category, BTS thanked their fans, known as ARMY, for their continued love and support.

"Thank you, as always, to ARMY and everyone who supports us."

Following the announcement, many ARMYs voiced their support on social media. Fans said they respected the group's decision and believed BTS was standing up for the idea that music should be judged by its artistry, not by its language or country of origin.

"This is why they are my favorite. They won't let anyone walk all over them or take advantage of them, and I fully support their decision," one fan wrote.

Another fan shared, "I love that they're speaking out against the new category because music should be recognized for its artistry and talent, not separated by language."

As of this writing, BTS's management has not released an official statement regarding the group's decision.
