Music producer and boyfriend to global superstar Selena Gomez, Benny Blanco recently found himself in a controversy after critiquing a Filipino fast-food chain in the United States in a TikTok video posted on March 1.

In his first video, Benny Blanco began with a disclaimer, highlighting his familiarity with Filipino cuisine due to his stepmother's background. However, his taste test quickly turned into a review that drew flak, describing the adobo rice as "dry a**” and the Chickenjoy as "soggy as f***." Even the spaghetti, pineapple juice, and fries did not seem to “satisfy” him, leading to an overall negative impression of the fast-food chain.

Responding to the backlash, Benny uploaded a second video on March 1, exploring the highest-rated Filipino restaurants in Los Angeles. He tried dishes such as lumpiang shanghai, longganisa, and chicken adobo, to name a few.

In an unexpected turn, Blanco decided to give the fast-food chain another chance, trying their spicy chicken sandwich. Contrary to his initial impressions, he was pleasantly surprised and praised the sandwich's quality. "Not only is this sandwich so good, I completely reverse my opinion of how it sucks. You can go there just for this,” Blanco said.

The video concluded with Benny Blanco's food combination of the chicken sandwich, lumpiang shanghai, and a dash of vinegar sauce.
