Bamboo returns to recording after 11 years with new single ‘Alon’
October 28, 2026

OPM singer Bamboo has released ‘Alon,’ his first new single in 11 years. The song talks about personal struggles and the social and political problems facing the country.

Released under filtered music, a sub-label of PolyEast Records, the song features a different sound from the alternative rock many listeners know him for. Its haunting melody captures the pain and worries people face during difficult times.

Written by composer and keyboardist Ria Osorio, ‘Alon’ is about relationships but also touches on Bamboo’s concerns about the country’s current situation. He said the song reminded him of the problems Filipinos continue to face and the lack of clear solutions.

However, Bamboo does not see the track as simply a sad song. For him, it is about facing pain without letting it take away the joy of living. He also hopes listeners will relate to the song and find comfort in knowing that others go through similar struggles.

After years without releasing new music, Bamboo said he wanted to wait for a song and sound that felt right for him. Instead of releasing music just to stay active, he wanted his next song to mean something to him and reflect where he is as an artist.

Despite the long gap between releases, Bamboo remained active in music through concerts, tours, and collaborations with fellow artists. His previous solo albums, ‘No Water, No Moon’ (2011) and ‘Bless This Mess’ (2015), were released under PolyEast Records, formerly EMI Philippines. He also rose to fame as a member of Rivermaya and later led his own band, Bamboo.

‘Alon’ is now available on major digital streaming platforms, while its official live performance video can be watched on Bamboo’s YouTube channel. The release also renews his partnership with PolyEast Records, which began in 2004, as he begins a new chapter in his music career.
