Fallen soldiers are heroes, but their children often face a future without support. The 9th HERO Golf Cup 2026 aimed to change that by bringing golfers, partners, and supporters together at Camp Aguinaldo to help fund the education of children of fallen and disadvantaged AFP soldiers. The event united the military and private sectors in a shared mission to give children opportunities to pursue their dreams. Truly a way of showcasing sports all the while helping the needy.

The day started out filled with excitement with a ceremonial tee-off led by Bureau of Corrections Director General Gen. Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. AFP (Ret.), Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete PA, and HERO Foundation President Gen. Emmanuel T. Bautista AFP (Ret.), with HERO Foundation Executive Director MGen. Victor Bayani AFP (Ret.) also in attendance.

Players enjoyed friendly competition, with Capt. Rudy Reyes winning the Overall Championship and Capt. Rebecca Reyes taking the Ladies Championship. Beyond golf, participants joined raffle draws and received prizes generously provided by the foundation’s in-kind partners showing that the event was both enjoyable and meaningful.

The funds raised will support the HERO Foundation’s scholarship program, helping orphaned children and dependent siblings of soldiers who were killed or injured in duty, and including those who died responding to disasters, while the event also highlighted the continued support of corporations, organizations, and individuals committed to the foundation’s mission, showing that collective effort truly makes a difference.

The 9th HERO Golf Cup proved that honoring heroes goes beyond remembering their bravery, because it also means giving their families the opportunities they deserve.
