(UPDATED) Eraserheads fans were sent into a frenzy following front man Ely Buendia’s confirmation of a comeback show.

The Filipino rock band is set to reunite in December 2022 at the SMDC Festival Grounds.

The revelation comes after the quartet posted a photo of the band’s logo — an inverted “E” on Saturday, September 17.

Ticket sales for the concert will start on Wednesday, October 5. The concert organizers have previously revealed that only 50,000 fans will be able to attend the concert. Tickets, which range from ₱3, 050 to ₱17, 260, will be available via www.smtickets.com.

Eraserheads was formed in 1989 with lead vocalist Ely Buendia, bassist Buddy Zabala, guitarist Marcus Adoro, and drummer Raimund Marasigan. Dubbed as “The Beatles of the Philippines,” they have popularized songs that even the younger generation had down pat, including Ang Huling El Bimbo, Pare Ko, Alapaap, Ligaya, and Overdrive, to name a few.

Following their disbandment in 2022, the members went on to play for different groups: Buendia with Apartel, Zabala with Moonstar88, Adoro with Markus Highway, and Marasigan with Pedicab and Sandwich. The band last held a reunion concert titled, “The Final Set” in 2009.

It can be recalled that in September 2021, Buendia got fans’ hopes up when he jokingly tweeted that the band would reassemble if then-vice president Leni Robredo would run for presidency.

He later on retracted his statement, claiming his tweet was a “half-serious joke.”
