    September 12 marks the official kick-off of competitions for the first-ever Aliwan Fiesta Digital Queen 2020.

    The online pageant begins with the Launch and Pride of Place competition where the top 9 candidates feature the local pride that best represents their respective places.

    The four-week show is hosted by Nicole Hyala and Chris Tsuper of 90.7 Love Radio Manila.

    The panel of judges to resolve with whom to choose who will be the first ever Aliwan Fiesta Digital Queen are Jessey Anne Guiam or Raqi Terra from 90.7 Love Radio Manila, Mr. Edzel Ty from Tanduay, Ms. Mai from ACS, the pageant coach, Mr. Norman Tinio and singer-songwriter, Ms. Nicole Laurel Asensio.

    Our finalists came from different parts of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao that they can genuinely promote and stimulate their provinces’ local culture and traditions.


    Jasmine Omay, who came for Tarlac City in Central Luzon, proudly presented their delicacies and social works in the city. The Betty’s Special Native Cakes which popularized in Tarlac for its kakanin and “Kapit Roll.” Tarlac is also known for the Kaisa Women Organization that makes handicrafts and the BJMP Tarlac Jail Dormitory for their beaded bonsai.


    The pride of Consolacion, Cebu, Bianca Wilhelmina Willemsen, introduced their local fiesta named Sarok Festival for their hats made of bamboo strips and dried banana leaves. She also brought everyone back to historical places of Cebu namely the Lapu-lapu Shrine, and Magellan’s Cross and the popular Sinulog Festival celebrated for the Sto. Niño.


    Jannarie Zarzoso took pride of their place, Cabadbaran City in the province of Agusan del Norte. She invited everyone to take a glimpse and feel of the calmness and serenity of their place fueled with its culture and tradition that made more special with the different water sports activities that can be done there.


    From the city of pines, Baguio City is Alana Rhedey. Aside from the popular food products and tourist destinations, Alana promoted the adaption of stray animals as member of the Baguio Animal Lovers League and she also took part of the unveiling of the “Kalasag” mural as honor and thanksgiving to frontliners amid the COVID-19 pandemic.


    The natural beauty and white beach of the island of Boracay in Aklan was made more special by Nicole Angela Crescini, who introduced the hardworking people of the island as well as the indigenous community of Ati. Aside from endless experience and infinite possibilities, the people are their greatest pride.


    The combination of beauty and cultural heritage is what Katrina Anne Castañeda Johnson presented about Davao City. The city is well-known for its numerous tourist destinations and native fruits such as durian and mangosteen that popularized their local fiesta, the Kadayawan Festival.


    Esperanza Francisco came from the “happy place,” Naga City in the province of Camarines Sur. The city is known for the Peñafrancia Fiesta where religion, culture and faith meet. But aside from the religious nature, it is known also for the Bicolano hospitality, food, handicrafts, local products, and wonders of nature.


    The “City of Love,” Iloilo is where Sharon Villan Idone came. Iloilo is rich with good food, loving people, and great attractions such as Bucari Leon, the summer capital of Iloilo, the Sinamay House of local weavers, Miag-ao Sunflower farm, Sta. Ana Church and the La Paz Batchoy.


    Allyssa May Nicholls from the province of Sultan Kudarat proudly presented their place with vast agricultural lands for coffee, banana, African oil, rice, and corns. Another are their stunning tourist destinations such as Fekung Bula Falls, La Palmera Mountain Ridge, and the Balot Island.

    All the competition segments and the Awarding and Coronation night will be streamed live on Aliwan Fiesta’s Facebook page and on all social media platforms of MBC: DZRH, Love Radio, Yes The Best, Easy Rock, Aksyon Radyo, and Radyo Natin. The shows will also be telecast on DZRH News Television, channel 18 on Cignal and channel 129 on Skycable.

    Aliwan Fiesta Digital Queen 2020 is presented by Unique toothpaste, Charm fabric conditioner, White Rose Kojic whitening soap, Tanduay and Palmolive Naturals Ultra Smooth.
