Daluyong wins MSFF 2022 Grand Prix Award

    On August 6 – MBC Short Film Festival announced its winners at the Big Night event, which aired across the company’s media platforms.

    The Grand Prix Winner’s judging panel comprises some film and television veterans – respectively GMA Network’s Creative Consultant Agnes Caballa; Actor, TV host, and director Jeffrey “Epy” Quizon; and Disney’s Animation’s Head of Story Josie Trinidad.

    “Daluyong” won Grand Prix Award and Best Short Feature at this year’s MSFF. Directed by Ervie Jay Torzar, the film tackles a young fisherman who dreamt of becoming a famous rapper.

    Furthermore, “Kambalingan” by Gio Gonzalves took home the Best Documentary Award; it Is a documentary on Marawi’s beauty before the unfortunate events of the Marawi Siege. The narrative is based on the Maranao survivors.

    On the other hand, “Proud” by Are Jay Madrigal Peralta won Best Animation. The short film tells the story of a pair of shoes symbolizing pride and boastfulness – every owner experiences misfortune and all kinds of evil, which humbles them in the long run.

    Jericho Rimando’s “The Transfiguration of Marya” won “Viewers’ Choice,” garnering the highest points in the poll, which ran from July 15-29. The short tackles a young Mother Mary devotee Marya and her journey. Their production house is to receive Php 25,000 because of this win.

    The “Grand Prix” winner takes home Php 220,000–20,000 upon entry in the “final screening stage.” On the other hand, category/genre winners are to receive “Php 100,000.” Another Php 100,000 will be received for winning the latter awarding category.
