Rumoured closure of the 43-year-old shopping mall – Harrison Plaza

Rumour has it that the good old Harrison Plaza will be closing this year. Yes, you heard it right, they will be closing this year!
Harrison Plaza has been one of the most iconic shopping malls in Manila since it is one of the first major shopping malls back then. It was opened in Malate in the City of Manila sometime in 1976. Being one of the upscale shopping centers with four cinemas, grocery shopping mall, department store, a fountain at the center of the mall and an atrium where most of the events back then were held.
According to the tenants of the stall inside Harrison Plaza, they have until the end of December 2019 before HP will be demolished to give way to the construction of the condominium with a shopping mall.
It was reported that the then chairperson of SM Prime Holdings has been negotiating with the Martel family who happens to own the Harrison Plaza of buying the property since April 2018. Both parties only have until 2020 or 2022 for the expiration of the Martels’ contract.

Harrison Plaza has served its customers for almost 43 years already and this seven-hectare land will soon be redeveloped into a shopping complex.
